The easiest video editing software to use would probably be Windows Movie Maker. It's a pretty simplistic, and easy to utilize, program which I'd highly suggest.
Other than movie maker, there's quite a few of other programs that are really great.
I'd highly suggest Wax if you're in need of an editing program that offers depth in editing. It's one powerful program. It offers unlimited video and audio. I have to warn you though, it is VERY tough to work. Not everyone can work that program with ease their first time using it.
Likewise for another program called Zwei-Stein. It's really powerful, but it's very hard to work at first.
So yeah, if it's simple editing tasks you need the video editor for, I suggest you use Windows Movie Maker.

I'd have to agree with Rey01 and say Movie Maker. Not the live version though cause that's shit. Download the vista version if you have the live version (don't worry it's free and legal.) I have Pinnacle 15 and that's really good, I didn't pay either. (But THAT was illegal.)
